With more than 30 years of industry experience, Jon Cundiff has witnessed firsthand the growth and evolution of the lawn care business. As the president of Weed Man Kansas City, Cundiff is constantly on the lookout for technology and/or equipment that can make his workers more productive and his business more profitable.
Cundiff recently took delivery of a new Exmark Spreader-Sprayer and has big plans for the machine this season. The stand-on machine will increase the productivity of his applicators, while making the job of applying materials easier for his crews to perform sustainably day-in and day-out.
When he took delivery of the new Exmark Spreader-Sprayer, Cundiff said even before he’d used it, he was impressed with the ergonomic features of the machine. And once he had used it on a few properties, his initial impressions were confirmed.
“It is living up to it’s billing and has been very easy to learn how to use. The controls are very intuitive and the machine seems to handle inclines very well.
“So far, the Exmark Spreader-Sprayer has been a very good tool to improve productivity of applications, while reducing the fatigue on my route managers.”
In his first week using the machine, Cundiff and his workers treated 650,000 sq. ft. of lawn on a total of 87 properties. That’s awesome productivity for any week, but its especially impressive considering it was a new machine for the operators. The intuitive controls and overall ease of use of the Exmark Spreader-Sprayer undoubtedly played a role in making this impressive “out of the box” productivity possible.
Cundiff says that, during the peak of the season, Cundiff expects that his crews will be using the Exmark Spreader-Sprayer every day. We’ll check back in with him periodically throughout the season to see how it’s working as his crews get more time in on the machine.
Look for an update on how the Exmark Spreader-Sprayer is working for Cundiff and his crews on June 13.
