Our Motivation Behind the First Lazer Z

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

Lazer Z X-SeriesIt’s hard to believe that the Lazer Z has been around for more than 16 years. Back in May 1994, when we first started working on the best-selling mower, we wanted to fill a hole in the marketplace. Mowers of that time were big machines that lacked productivity and reliability. They wasted time on the grass and wasted valuable space on trailers. So we decided that our mower wasn’t going to be just productive and reliable, but it was going to be a machine that would deliver an unmistakable cut. It would also be a machine that minded its space.

But before we rolled up our sleeves and cranked up the factory floor, we put on our comfy shoes and traveled to some of our territories to hear firsthand what pros want in a mower.

With feedback in hand, we headed to Beatrice and started building our vision. More than a year later, the very first Lazer Z rolled off the line. It was the first mid-mount mower to provide a quality cut with every job, and to do it in less time. It was a mower that wasn’t just productive, but extremely reliable. It was the first machine to take up less trailer space, allowing room for the rest of the fleet. It was truly a product that revolutionized the industry; it changed how a landscape pro mowed.

Of course the Lazer Z of today is different from its humble beginnings, but not by much. We transformed and improved on a few of its features, but we kept the productivity, reliability and quality of cut just as impressive as the original model.

It’s been a long, rewarding road. One we would travel on if we had to do it all over again.

Do you remember your first Lazer Z? We’d love to hear from you.

2011 EFI Units

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

This year was a big one: we introduced a number of new units at GIE+EXPO, including the Pioneer Series and the new Vantage. We also introduced five new energy efficient units for 2011.

Energy efficiency is an important and growing area of focus for the landscaping industry. We believe it is part of our responsibility at Exmark to provide landscape professionals with the option of selecting an energy efficient mower when they make a purchase.

Here’s a look at the new Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) units for 2011 – all designed to cut fuel and save you money.

The entire fleet of EFI units features a state-of-the-art Kohler PRO EFI engine, which is the industry’s first closed loop fuel injection system. These new engines can allow the units to consume up to 25 percent less fuel than a standard carburetor-powered mower for savings that really add up over time.

What do you think of the new 2011 EFI units? Do you own an EFI unit? Tell us about it in the comments section.

Another great year at GIE+Expo.

Now that another year at GIE+EXPO has come to a close, we thought it might be time for us to do a quick recap of the products we unveiled during this year’s show.

Pioneer S-Series and E-Series

The Exmark Pioneer S-Series

The Exmark Pioneer S-Series

We’re excited to announce this latest addition to the Exmark family — the new Exmark Pioneer Series.  This mower offers the same professional performance you’d expect to see from an Exmark, but in value package that I think most landscape pros can appreciate.

The Pioneer is equipped with full-floating UltraCut deck cutting technology and Kawasaki V Twin engines. The S-Series is equipped with a 44”, 48” or 52” UltraCut Series 3 cutting deck. The E-Series is built on a full-floating 48” or 52” UltraCut Series 2 cutting deck.

More details on both of these new units can be found here and here.

Vantage

This year, we’re adding a 36” UltraCut option to the Vantage’s existing 48” and 52” decks. We’re also adding a 25 hp Kohler EFI engine to this line-up.

New EFI Units

For 2011, we’re introducing a new line of units with EFI engines. This new fleet of EFI units feature a state-of-the-art Kohler Command PRO EFI engine, which is the industry’s first closed loop fuel injection system.

New 2011 EFI Units include:

  • Turf Tracer X-Series will have a 21 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • Lazer Z S-Series will have both a 25 and 29 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • Lazer Z X-Series will continue to have a 29 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • The Navigator will have a 27 hp Kohler EFI engine

These engines allow the machines to consume up to 25 percent less fuel than a standard carburetor-powered mower for savings that really add up over time.

The First Year Report Card for the New Lazer Z

Monday, February 15th, 2010

It rarely happens around here – we almost never take the time to stop and look back. But with the first anniversary of our Next Lazer Z launch, we couldn’t just move ahead without reflecting and sharing the positive report that came in from the field. For starters, landscape pros have said that to call the newest Lazer Z’s increased durability, “dependable”, was quite the understatement. We’ve also heard that the mower isn’t just easy to maintain, but it’s easy on the body, making it one extremely comfortable ride. As for the cut, pros couldn’t be more pleased. They’ve confirmed the UltraCut Series 6 deck delivers Exmark’s signature cut with each pass. Other features that have the pros raving are the new spindles and hydros. Needless to say, the evolution influenced largely by landscape pros has become quite a hit. To see just how much pros are loving it, visit http://www.exmark.com/otherssay.asp. Exmark Lazer Z AS

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Hello. Ross Hawley here again, a product manager at Exmark. This post is the next in our series highlighting the newest from Exmark in 2010. Today, we’d like to highlight the Exmark Lazer Z AS.

We made sure the newest member of the Exmark Lazer Z family lives up to its high performance lineage. The Lazer Z AS is a commercial-grade, zero-turn mower with a 20 hp Kawasaki FX or Kawasaki FS engine. It comes with 48- or 52-inch full-floating UltraCut Series 4 cutting decks and offers a compact, heavy-duty, unibody frame with standard rear-sloping, easily foldable ROPS.

Here are some of the other features that set the Lazer Z AS apart from the rest:

  • Exmark exclusive Parker unitized 12 cc pump and wheel motor system with no hoses for improved performance and reduced maintenance.
  • 12 x 5.0-6 smooth-tread, pneumatic front caster tires for increased reliability.
  • Speeds up to 8 mph forward for increased productivity.
  • Heavy-duty canister air filtration system (available on FX engine models) to improve engine life and simplify maintenance.
  • High-capacity, 8-gallon, single fuel tank with single fill location to reduce time at the gas pump.

It’s certainly a mower that you need to experience firsthand at your local Exmark dealer.

Update: The Exmark Lazer Z AS is now the Lazer Z E-Series.
