2011 EFI Units

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

This year was a big one: we introduced a number of new units at GIE+EXPO, including the Pioneer Series and the new Vantage. We also introduced five new energy efficient units for 2011.

Energy efficiency is an important and growing area of focus for the landscaping industry. We believe it is part of our responsibility at Exmark to provide landscape professionals with the option of selecting an energy efficient mower when they make a purchase.

Here’s a look at the new Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) units for 2011 – all designed to cut fuel and save you money.

The entire fleet of EFI units features a state-of-the-art Kohler PRO EFI engine, which is the industry’s first closed loop fuel injection system. These new engines can allow the units to consume up to 25 percent less fuel than a standard carburetor-powered mower for savings that really add up over time.

What do you think of the new 2011 EFI units? Do you own an EFI unit? Tell us about it in the comments section.

Another great year at GIE+Expo.

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Now that another year at GIE+EXPO has come to a close, we thought it might be time for us to do a quick recap of the products we unveiled during this year’s show.

Pioneer S-Series and E-Series

The Exmark Pioneer S-Series

The Exmark Pioneer S-Series

We’re excited to announce this latest addition to the Exmark family — the new Exmark Pioneer Series.  This mower offers the same professional performance you’d expect to see from an Exmark, but in value package that I think most landscape pros can appreciate.

The Pioneer is equipped with full-floating UltraCut deck cutting technology and Kawasaki V Twin engines. The S-Series is equipped with a 44”, 48” or 52” UltraCut Series 3 cutting deck. The E-Series is built on a full-floating 48” or 52” UltraCut Series 2 cutting deck.

More details on both of these new units can be found here and here.

Vantage

This year, we’re adding a 36” UltraCut option to the Vantage’s existing 48” and 52” decks. We’re also adding a 25 hp Kohler EFI engine to this line-up.

New EFI Units

For 2011, we’re introducing a new line of units with EFI engines. This new fleet of EFI units feature a state-of-the-art Kohler Command PRO EFI engine, which is the industry’s first closed loop fuel injection system.

New 2011 EFI Units include:

  • Turf Tracer X-Series will have a 21 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • Lazer Z S-Series will have both a 25 and 29 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • Lazer Z X-Series will continue to have a 29 hp Kohler EFI engine
  • The Navigator will have a 27 hp Kohler EFI engine

These engines allow the machines to consume up to 25 percent less fuel than a standard carburetor-powered mower for savings that really add up over time.

The Exmark Vantage: One Year Later

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Vantage_Outdoor_01It’s been almost a year since the introduction of Vantage, our stand-on mower, and since then, the positive reviews have been pouring in.  The features that really stand out in the minds of pros and dealers are the mower’s platform and suspension system, and the exclusive Exmark deck.

When we first started working on Vantage, we spent a lot of time with customers, talking to them, watching them work and figuring out their pain points. We discovered that comfort is key for the guy who is standing all day long. We designed the suspension to be easier on the operator’s knees and joints. And, as always, the deck delivers the distinct Exmark cut.

A few of our customers mentioned that they actually waited for the launch of this machine to buy a stand-on mower. They also told us it was well worth the wait. That makes us very proud.

Vantage features:

  • Powered by 20 or 24 hp Kawasaki V Twin engines.
  • Available with 48″and 52″ UltraCut Series 4 cutting decks.
  • Ergonomically designed steering system includes an adjustable front reference bar that can control the top-end speed of the machine.
  • Self-compensating suspension makes standing easier for pros of all shapes.
  • Platform folds up, allowing the machine to function like a walk-behind.
  • Superior traction and handling allows you to mow, changing landscapes effortlessly.
  • Angled platform sides allow operator to shift body weight for a smoother ride when mowing hillsides.
  • Greaseless spindles eliminate the need for yearly greasing.
  • 11 x 4.0-5, smooth-tread, semi-pneumatic front caster tires for increased reliability.
  • 20 x 10.0-8 Turf Master drive tires for optimum traction. Tough 1.5″ x 3.0″ steel-frame blades ensure maximum durability.
  • Integrated tie-down points for secure trailering.

Have you been on the Vantage? Share your thoughts below.

Exmark Mower Safety

Friday, August 13th, 2010

green_unitsGAAt Exmark, one of our top concerns is safety. Around the plant, at the dealership, during development and especially while on the mower itself. One thing you can always count on is that safety comes first. Always.

Everything we do goes into making each unit as safe as possible for operators, as well as how the machine works for the operator. Of course durability and quality are what we’re known for, but; at  Exmark, safety is essential to a great, successful unit.

New Product Announcement: Exmark-Branded Engine Oil

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Much like cars, mowers tend to have different personalities. You have your workhorse or your sleek rider. And much like car enthusiasts, there’s a breed of devout mower enthusiasts. On occasion, the two are one and the same. But whatever camp you happen to fall in, you probably know that a mower shouldn’t be treated like a car, especially where engine oil is concerned. Up until now, your options were limited.

Engine oil specifically designed for mowers didn’t exist. What was available was a common blend almost identical to oils manufactured for the automotive industry. Seeing the need for oil specific to the lubrication requirements of the mower, we’re excited to announce our newest product, Exmark-branded engine oil that’s formulated to deliver everything a mower needs.   It’ll help boost performance and, along with regular maintenance, it’ll help extend the life of your machine. You won’t get that out of the car oil blends.

Key benefits of the new oil include:

  • Both SAE 30 and SAE 10W-30 in one bottle.
  • Contains increased levels of zinc and phosphorus for increased lubricity.
  • No Viscosity Index Improvers that tend to shear down in high heat.
  • Synthetic formulation.
  • Gas & Diesel compatible.
  • Anti-corrosion additives.
  • API ‘SL’ and JASO rated with wet clutch compatibility for other machines in your fleet.

Check out our new Exmark engine oil and see what it can do for your Exmark here.

Green Machines

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

We’re not surprised in the least to see a good deal of our customers opting for environmentally-friendly, alternative fuel mowers. It’s been a steady ripple of change within the landscaping industry. And pros are doing it for a variety of reasons, from customer expectations, to evolved business practices, to overall gas savings and efficiency.

Exmark is supporting our customers’ efforts with green machines that burn cleaner, reduce emissions and use less gas. We’re also hoping to educate everyone on the benefits of propane mowers.

For instance, along with the positive impacts of fuel  and environmental conservation, propane mowers require less maintenance and a clean-burning engine will actually last up to twice as long as a traditional engine.  Although there’s a bit of sticker shock associated with these mowers, propane is nearly 30 percent cheaper than gasoline, so the cost savings really add up. Translation: going green can save some green.

But if investing in a new alternative fuel mower is not an option, you can still take steps to go green by filling your Exmark with biodiesel. You’ll see very little impact on the performance of your mower.

Though alternative fuels may not be as readily available as gas, propane and biodiesel are not hard to find. Simply search your local Yellow Pages for your nearest propane dealer and The National Biodiesel Board for a list of registered fuel suppliers who adhere to strict production standards.

For those who prefer a gas motor but still want to reduce their gas consumption, take a look at Kohler electronic fuel injection engine (EFI), which uses significantly less gas, burns cleaner and produces far fewer carbon emissions than a traditional engine.  Similar to alternative fuel engines, you’ll spend less on fuel and need less maintenance.

Thinking about going green? Check out some Exmark’s alternative fuel mowers and EFIs.

Don’t forget to leave a comment and share your thoughts on the green issue.

Exmark Commercial 21

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Hi, everyone. Tom Vachal here, principal design engineer for Exmark.

At Exmark, we’re constantly coming up with new ways of making our products even better, whether it’s through improving features on our already popular mowers or introducing new models that meet the specific needs of landscape pros. We just can’t help ourselves. For the past 18 months, I’ve had the pleasure of helping create the Commercial 21 and Commercial 21 Advantage Series – two new additions to our walk-behind line and a prime example of our obsession with delivering the very best to our customers.

Here are just a few of the features we’ve incorporated into the new Commercial 21 line:

  • Single point rear height adjustment for quick changes
  • Easy on and off bag design that eliminates the need for levers and doors

The First Year Report Card for the New Lazer Z

Monday, February 15th, 2010

It rarely happens around here – we almost never take the time to stop and look back. But with the first anniversary of our Next Lazer Z launch, we couldn’t just move ahead without reflecting and sharing the positive report that came in from the field. For starters, landscape pros have said that to call the newest Lazer Z’s increased durability, “dependable”, was quite the understatement. We’ve also heard that the mower isn’t just easy to maintain, but it’s easy on the body, making it one extremely comfortable ride. As for the cut, pros couldn’t be more pleased. They’ve confirmed the UltraCut Series 6 deck delivers Exmark’s signature cut with each pass. Other features that have the pros raving are the new spindles and hydros. Needless to say, the evolution influenced largely by landscape pros has become quite a hit. To see just how much pros are loving it, visit http://www.exmark.com/otherssay.asp. Also check out our latest video on the new Lazer Z on our YouTube channel.
