Exmark Mower Safety

Friday, August 13th, 2010

green_unitsGAAt Exmark, one of our top concerns is safety. Around the plant, at the dealership, during development and especially while on the mower itself. One thing you can always count on is that safety comes first. Always.

Everything we do goes into making each unit as safe as possible for operators, as well as how the machine works for the operator. Of course durability and quality are what we’re known for, but; at  Exmark, safety is essential to a great, successful unit.

To help you with keeping safety at the front of your mind as well, we’ve developed a series of videos for you on our YouTube channel. These videos detail:

  • Proper conditions for mowing
  • Proper care for and operation of the Lazer Z, as well as instructions for utilizing the rollover protection system
  • Exmark’s unique handling instructions, features and controls for full safety and performance
  • Proper maintenance, transport and storage that are crucial to performance
  • Care of your Exmark mower
  • General operation and safety instructions for the Vantage

Stop by the Exmark YouTube channel to catch all the videos and learn more about your Exmark.  Feel free to leave a comment or two along the way! We love hearing from you.

An Update on the Exmark Outdoor Tour.

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

We used to get asked all the time what we were doing at fishing, hunting and boating shows. Reels, guns and boats, that’s the kind of stuff you’d expect to see there. But a mower? It seemed odd…at first. Now a lot of Exmark users stop by our booth to tell us how much time they saved with their mowers. And there’s the connection.

If you’ve ever used an Exmark, then you know just how productive these babies are. So whether you’re mowing for a living or mowing your backyard, you can count on the job being done as efficiently as possible. For some of you, this means you can get back to fishing, hunting or boating before the day is done.

Our goal is to be the booth that’s buzzing with activity at all times–from entering our Grand Gear Giveaway Sweepstakes, to video games for the kids to giving away cool gifts to all those who stop by. If you’re the outdoorsy type, then you know that Cabelas is one of the places to go for an impressive selection of gear.

Our presence at outdoor shows is now expected. People love seeing us there. They love to stop by and ask a lot of technical questions. And we love talking with them and sharing our passion for the outdoors. These folks really appreciate quality and craftsmanship in a machine. We can definitely understand that.

Giving Back

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Our community in Beatrice, NE is nothing short of amazing. We love being here. Working here. And for the majority of us, living here. It’s more of a family than a community. And as with any family, pitching in and helping out is the responsibility of every member. One of the ways we stay involved in our community is through the Exmark Community Giving Back Program. Recently, we made a $20,000 donation to Main Street Beatrice, specifically for the beautification of downtown Beatrice’s Charles Park. This helped Main Street Beatrice install a Toro irrigation system and benches throughout Charles Park. A portion of the money was used toward the park’s various operation expenses.

Now that the days are warm, you can see families out enjoying the park. That’s what it’s all about for us – not the media write-ups or pats on the back or name recognition, but giving members of our family a nice outdoor environment where they can catch up and spend time together.

Donating money is only one way of giving back to your community. If you want to donate and money isn’t an option, think about donating your time and your machines to help beautify your town. Just imagine what your local park would look like if you had a chance to cut it. A simple phone call or two to your local city office or parks and recreations office can get the ball rolling.

We’d love to hear how you give back to your community. Leave a comment below.

Daryn Walter’s Peek into the 2010 Season

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

With the new mowing season fast approaching, we wanted to look ahead and take a brief glance behind at the issues that will be affecting us, our dealers and Landscape Pros.

For this 2010 forecast, we turned to our Director of Marketing, Daryn Walters, with a few questions that have been floating through the halls of Exmark.

Q: What is the outlook for landscape pros this mowing season?

This may sound shocking, but the early indications from Exmark retail data and product demand tell us that landscape pros are poised for a very successful 2010. This is the direct result of a very busy snow season, which generated healthy profits and a high degree of optimism for landscape professionals.  And as products are aging, we are ready to provide our customers with great products that will continue to build on the momentum created by winter.

Q: What is Exmark looking forward to through the 2010 season?

We’re excited to be able to offer our customers and distribution channels some of the best mowers on the market. We’re moving into the second, full year of production on the new Lazer Z product line. The new Lazer has been a tremendous success over the last 14 months, with perks of some of the lowest warranty rates in the company’s history. In addition, our customers are gearing up to jump on our highly anticipated, stand-on mower, Vantage, as well as walk behind the completely redesigned Commercial 21 product.

Q: What could be most unexpected this year?

Since we’re constantly looking out for our clients, it’s in our nature to try to prepare for any number of scenarios, both positive and negative, that could impact our customers’ business. For example, we’re continually monitoring fuel and commodity prices, economic conditions, and the most unpredictable variable of them all, major weather shifts.  Weather is such a huge contributing factor to the industry’s yearly success, that it cannot be ignored; however, it is the one variable that is arguably the most difficult to manage.  The good news is that if the current long-term models are correct, our customers should enjoy a relatively normal temperature and precipitation cycle over the coming summer months.

Q: Any tips for our customers that will help them have a successful year?

The greatest advice that I can provide both landscape professionals and power equipment dealers is to keep challenging yourself, keep improving, keep evolving. This is Exmark’s core philosophy and it has helped us advance our company in both prosperous and poor economic times, and unpredictable weather conditions. We are always challenging the norm and trying to find new and more effective ways to grow our business, support our customers and produce the industry’s leading products. This drive for innovation and business improvement transcends the manufacturing segment and can easily be applied to our customers—whether that is identifying new profitable products and services or improving your existing core business processes.  There will always be new competition popping up and in order for your business to grow you must continuously seek improvements, challenge the past and approach every day with an entrepreneurial curiosity. And, if you are ever in need of some immediate inspiration, remember that Darwinism is alive and well in our economy, where strong companies will prosper and grow, while weak companies decline and disappear.

Welcome to “What’s Next”

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Hi everyone. My name is Daryn Walters, and I’m the Director of Marketing at Exmark. Welcome to our new Exmark blog, “What’s Next.”

I wanted to take a minute and tell you why we’ve chosen to create this blog. Since opening for business nearly three decades ago, Exmark has enjoyed an ongoing dialogue with you, our customers and prospective customers.  And I can’t overstate just how valuable your feedback has been to us. It’s your advice and insight that help us to enhance and even develop new service offerings and products.  As we move forward, we hope this blog can serve as another way for Exmark to connect with you and collect your thoughts so that we can serve you better.

We’ll also use this blog to provide you with helpful and interesting information. For example, you’re going to see posts about service reminders and maintenance tips from our very own Exmark experts – some of whom have worked in this industry for more than 25 years. They will cover everything from simple tasks, such as blade sharpening, to more advanced techniques, such as leveling your deck.

In addition, you will see occasional posts about company news and other items of interest, such as product updates. If there are other things you would like to hear about, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Thanks for visiting “What’s Next.” We hope you check back often, and wish you a happy, healthy 2010.
